The programme aimed to strengthen farmers’ knowledge and skills in adopting climate-resilient agricultural practices to address the challenges posed by climate change and changing weather patterns. The Meghalaya government has estimated an expenditure of around Rs 600 crore for hosting the 39th National Games next year. Speaking to reporters, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla informed that the National Games Committee has projected the overall cost of organising the multi-sport event at approximately Rs 600 crore. He added that proposals have already been submitted to the Union Government seeking financial assistance for the event. A district-level task force and joint check posts will be set up by the Meghalaya government in order to tighten its crackdown on cattle smuggling along the India-Bangladesh border. Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Sanbor Shullai said the decision was taken recently during a high-level meeting between the department and the Border Security Force where the Inspector General of BSF’s Meghalaya Frontier and senior officials from both agencies were also present.
