Meghalaya Govt declares compensatory holidays on Dec 22, 23, 29 & 31; Offices to open on Feb 14 & 21, Mar 21 & 28

The Governor of Meghalaya has announced that all State Government offices and all Revenue and Magisterial Courts across the state will remain closed on 22nd, 23rd, 29th and 31st December 2025 as compensatory holidays. To balance these closures, the government has directed that all such offices and courts will remain open on 14th and 21st February, and 21st and 28th March 2026.

The state unit of BJP in Meghalaya has demanded a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the alleged illegal coal trade in the state. Meghalaya BJP vice-president and Tura MDC Bernard Marak, who chairs the party’s committee on illegal coal mining and transportation, informed that the committee has already submitted its first inquiry report to the Centre. Marak said that another report, a comprehensive one, was being prepared.
