Newly inducted Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh has said that his return to the Meghalaya Cabinet will bring a combination of experience, knowledge and vision to the government, while asserting that there can be no compromise on projects aimed at strengthening the state’s tourism potential.
Speaking after his induction, Lyngdoh said he would convene a series of meetings with officials at different levels, including senior officers of the Tourism Department, within the next couple of days to review key projects.
“In a matter of a couple of days from today, I will be again convening meetings at various levels, including the top-notch officers of the Tourism Department,” he said.
Highlighting Meghalaya’s tourism potential, he added that certain projects could significantly enhance the state’s stature as a tourism destination. “There are certain projects which also can enhance the stature of the state as a tourism destination, so there can be no compromise on such projects,” he said.
On concerns over rising crime, including daylight burglaries, and the safety of tourists and residents, Lyngdoh said a series of security measures were being considered, including strengthening the state’s security infrastructure.
“There is a slew of measures which I have in mind, and certainly we will enhance security and safety of not just visitors to Meghalaya, but all residents,” he said.
