Paul Lyngdoh given Tourism, Social Welfare, Ars & Culture Ministry

National People’s Party legislator from West Shillong Paul Lyngdoh has made a comeback to the Conrad Sangma cabinet with his old portfolios intact.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Affairs department on November 3, 2026, Lyngdoh has been re-allocated Social Welfare, Tourism and Arts & Culture — the same three departments he held before he was dropped as minister last year.

The order said the reallocation comes in partial modification of the September 16, 2025 notification and takes immediate effect.

Lyngdoh was reinducted into the cabinet on Monday, days after he along with two former UDP legislators defected and merged with the NPP.

The notification also lists the portfolios of two other ministers.

NPP’s Timothy D. Shira, while retaining Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, has been given additional charge of Power and Water Resources — portfolios earlier held by UDP chief Metbah Lyngdoh, who resigned as cabinet minister recently after 11 MLAs of his party defected.

BJP’s Sanbor Shullai has lost Arts & Culture but retains Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fisheries, Taxation, Legal Metrology and Printing & Stationery.
