
Meghalaya achieved a major milestone in its sporting journey as the Host State Agreement for the 39th National Games 2027 was officially signed on Saturday at the J.N. Sports Complex, Shillong, alongside the inauguration of the new Integrated Multipurpose Indoor Hall. The programme was attended by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Chief Minister Shri Conrad K. Sangma, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse, Meghalaya Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Shri Wailadmiki Shylla, and Indian Olympic Association President Dr. P. T. Usha.
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya stated that the Centre remained committed to strengthening sports infrastructure and nurturing talent in the Northeast. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said the signing of the agreement marked a proud moment for Meghalaya and reflected the state’s vision of becoming a leading sporting destination in the country. Dr. P. T. Usha described the development as a significant step forward for sports in Meghalaya and expressed confidence that the state would successfully host the National Games in 2027. The newly inaugurated Integrated Multipurpose Indoor Hall is expected to serve as one of the key venues for the National Games and provide modern facilities for athletes across the region.
