KSU leader gets 20-day interim bail on medical grounds

KSU vice-president Pynkmenlang Sanmiet was on Wednesday granted 20 days’ interim bail by a local court on medical grounds, enabling him to return to his treating doctors and undergo the procedure advised for his condition.

Sanmiet walked out of Shillong District Jail following the court’s order. He said he had been suffering from health complications since July and was earlier admitted to Bethany Hospital for treatment.

Talking to reporters after his release, Sanmiet said he was discharged after a few days in hospital but was asked to undergo a medical check-up two weeks later. Based on the tests and medical reports, doctors advised him to complete the required procedure within six weeks.
