Shillong tightens security ahead of Vice President’s Sept 7-8 visit

The administration has imposed a no-drone restriction in parts of Shillong ahead of the Vice President of India’s two-day visit to the city.

According to an order under Section 163 BNSS issued by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal on Thursday, no drone operations will be allowed within a 3-km radius of the State Central Library and Lok Bhavan from September 7 to 8.

The order said many VIPs and dignitaries will be attending the event and the restriction has been imposed as a security measure.
