
The 5th Sohra International Half Marathon 2026 was successfully held in Sohra on Friday despite persistent rainfall throughout the morning, attracting around 11,000 participants from across different age groups.
Organised by the Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, the event witnessed participation from children, youngsters and senior citizens, along with runners from all over India and abroad.
Participants competed in the 10-km and 21-km races, while others joined the “Run for Fun” category.
The event was attended by Meghalaya Sports Minister Wailadmiki Shylla as the Chief Guest.
Renowned toughest man in India Sukant Singh Suki, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs Alertson Nongbri, and senior office-bearers of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, including John F. Kharshiing and Finely Pariat, were also present.
Despite the challenging weather conditions, the participants displayed great enthusiasm and determination, contributing to the success of the event and underscoring the growing popularity of long-distance running and fitness activities in Meghalaya.
