SAP India targets two million people for AI skilling by 2030

SAP India is expanding its learning, certification and workforce development initiatives to equip two million people in India with artificial intelligence (AI)-ready skills by 2030, aiming to address rising demand for digital talent and strengthen workforce preparedness for an AI-driven economy.

The initiative will bring together government bodies, academic institutions, industry partners and community organisations to expand access to practical training in AI, cloud computing, data and enterprise technologies. The India commitment contributes to SAP’s global target of equipping 12 million people with AI-ready skills by 2030. India accounts for approximately 48% of SAP’s certified learners worldwide, while nearly 13% of its two-million training target has already been reached through certification, student education and community programmes.

Manish Prasad, president and managing director of SAP Indian Subcontinent, said sustained investment in skills development was essential to prepare Indian talent for emerging technological opportunities. SAP will strengthen government and state partnerships, university collaborations, professional certification and inclusive skilling programmes, including Code Unnati, Digital Academy and AI Careers for Women.

In Shillong, the initiative could create opportunities for students, jobseekers and working professionals to develop industry-relevant digital capabilities. Wider access to AI and cloud training could help local talent pursue technology-sector employment and remote work opportunities, while supporting businesses seeking digitally skilled workers.

SAP’s programmes also aim to extend technology education to underserved communities and learners in Tier 2 and Tier 3 locations, linking practical training with career guidance and workplace readiness.
