Meghalaya to hold 5th Sohra International Half Marathon on September 4

The 5th Sohra International Half Marathon 2026 will be held on September 4th, 2026, with participation restricted to 11,000 runners from across India and abroad.

The event will feature five categories: 21K Elite/Open (18 years and above), 21K Meghalayan Open (18 years and above), 10K Meghalayan Open (18 to below 40 years), 10K Meghalayan Open (40 to below 55 years), and 10K Meghalayan Open (55 years and above).

The marathon is being organised by the Meghalaya State Olympic Association in association with the Meghalaya Athletics Association, with support from the Sports Department of the Government of Meghalaya.
Officials said the budget for the event has been retained at ₹3 crore, the same as last year.

The prize money for the 21K Elite/Open category has been enhanced. Winners securing first, second and third places will receive cash awards of *3 lakh, *2 lakh and ₹1 lakh, respectively. In addition, five consolation prizes of *50,000 each will be awarded.

The Sohra International Half Marathon has emerged as one of the premier road-running events in the Northeast, attracting participants from across the country as well as international runners.
