BJP Meghalaya spokesperson Arnab Das has denied that the party endorses recent statements circulating on social media and reported by some media outlets, saying they are false. Das said the party had sought clarification from its Yuva Morcha president, who categorically denied making the alleged remarks. He added that statements attributed to social media accounts should be verified, citing previous instances of leaders’ accounts being hacked or misused.
Das said the party’s official statements are issued through proper channels and rejected what he described as “irresponsible statements” being attributed to the BJP. He said BJP Meghalaya respects the fundamental right of students to protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, but accused other political parties of attempting to “hijack” the demonstration for political gains.
The BJP spokesperson also condemned violence against police personnel and appealed to students to maintain peace. He further criticised the Congress for allegedly attempting to enter the Prime Minister’s official residence, saying such actions raised concerns over the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Das said the BJP did not endorse violence of any kind and urged that the protests remain peaceful.
On the NEET controversy, Das said the Government had acted swiftly, noting that 13 arrests had been made in connection with the alleged paper leak. He said the Centre was committed to sweeping reforms in the education system, but added that implementing such changes would take time given the country’s large population and federal structure. He said the Prime Minister remained committed to bringing about lasting reforms to secure the future of students.
