In a move that blends entertainment with evolving digital habits, Vodafone Idea (Vi) has stepped into the fast-growing microdrama space, offering short, engaging stories for free on its Vi Movies & TV platform. Partnering with the Bullet Microdrama App, the company aims to tap into the everyday viewing preferences of India’s smartphone-first audience.
Microdramas—bite-sized, serialised stories spanning romance, thriller, and comedy—are rapidly becoming a daily habit for viewers. India contributed 11% of global downloads in Q1 2025, reaching 35 million installs, with the market expected to grow to $1.5 billion by 2026 and $4.5 billion by 2030. With audiences spending 40 to 90 minutes daily and completion rates crossing 90%, the format reflects how storytelling is becoming faster, more personal, and deeply engaging.
Through Vi Movies & TV, users can access content from over 20 OTT platforms, including JioHotstar, SonyLIV, ZEE5 and Amazon MX Player, along with 400+ live TV channels. The new microdrama lineup features multilingual titles such as Rickshaw Romeo, AutoRaja, Lady Boss, Comedy Couple, and Sweet 16, catering to diverse regional tastes.
