Assam records 86% drop in rhino poaching since 2016

Assam's one-horned Rhino pride of the state, crown jewel of Northeast region, for the protection of the habitant of the rhinoceros many majors have underway since years. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has recently updated about the drop of rhino poaching since 2016. During celebration of World Rhino Day, Assam CM stated, "Since the double-engine government took charge (of Assam) in 2016, poaching has dropped by 86%. Ever since we assumed office, we have taken various initiatives to protect the prized species, expand its habitat, and ensure its safety. The Assam CM also mentioned that between 2000 and 2021, poachers has killed 190 rhinos.

Public Examination Act introduced in Assam

To ensure transparency and fairness in public recruitment in Assam government examinations, Assam government has decided to introduced Public Examination Act in the state. About the newly implementated act, the act prohibits malpractice with penalties of up to 10 years imprisonment and fines up to ₹10 crore, and examinees found guilty may also be barred from future examinations.
