Actress-turned-BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has now hit out against Gen-Z, the same group whose month-long protest in Delhi had forced Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to step down. On Monday, the MP made several controversial remarks targeting the protesting youth, especially female students, through multiple posts on social media.
In an Instagram post, Kangana Ranaut claimed that many Gen-Z youth today want to live an independent life without taking responsibility. She even called this generation “Generation Gutter”.
Kangana Ranaut wrote, “Truly independent women make brave decisions, stand firm in their opinions and take responsibility for their own actions. But demanding independence while remaining dependent on family and without taking responsibility does not mean you have earned that freedom.”
Targeting Hindu female students who took part in the protest as well, the MP alleged that in the name of imitating a Western lifestyle, many are not focusing on studies or responsibility and are only raising demands for freedom.
She further alleged that many such youth live off their parents’ income while claiming to be independent. At the same time, Kangana also said that drug use, drinking alcohol, or an uncontrolled personal life are being presented as symbols of freedom.
It may be noted that earlier too, Kangana Ranaut had strongly criticised the movement led by the CJP – Cockroach Janata Party. In another post, she mentioned that the language, behavior and videos posted by the protesters on social media are “extremely indecent and irritating”.
It is significant that the protest, which began over the NEET question paper leak, had forced Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign. After the government accepted several demands of the protesters, the Cockroach Janata Party withdrew its 36-day-long protest at Jantar Mantar.
