In flood-hit Sivasagar, the cries of the flood victims are breaking everyone’s heart. After the floods washed away their dream homes, thousands of people are left helpless. The sudden floods have swept away cattle from cowsheds, ducks and chickens from poultry farms, and crops that were just about to grow in the fields. In such a situation, the only hope for the flood-affected people now lies in the little help being extended by the government, administration, organizations, and individuals.
Sivasagar district, devastated by the floods, is now witnessing a grim picture. In these difficult times for the people, MLA Akhil Gogoi has been seen standing by them like a shadow. The MLA himself shared on social media that he was struggling to arrange money to distribute cash aid to the worst-hit flood victims. Responding to his appeal, many people have already come forward with donations as per their capacity.
Amid this, a teenage student has become the talk of the town after handing over her piggy bank of savings to the MLA. Himashree Hiya Kalita, a resident of Arjunguri in Sivasagar, gave her savings box to Akhil Gogoi.
The MLA was seen getting emotional while holding the piggy bank. He hugged young Himashree and highly praised her noble gesture.
It may be mentioned that the death toll in this flood disaster in Upper Assam has already risen to 75. According to information shared by the National Disaster Authority, 7 more bodies have recently been recovered from different parts of Sivasagar.
