Arunachal Pradesh Governor K.T. Parnaik has underscored the importance of strengthening the network of Advanced Landing Grounds (ALGs) across the state to bolster national security, disaster management capabilities, connectivity and border area development.
The Governor made the remarks during a meeting with Air Marshal Inderpal Singh Walia in Shillong on Friday.
Highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s strategic location along the international border, Parnaik said that well-maintained and operational ALGs are critical for supporting defence preparedness and facilitating swift military deployments when required.
He also noted that the airstrips play a vital role in improving connectivity to remote and inaccessible regions of the state, enabling faster transportation of people, supplies and essential services.
The Governor emphasised that an efficient ALG network is equally important for disaster response and humanitarian assistance, particularly in a state that frequently faces challenges such as landslides, floods and adverse weather conditions.
Parnaik further stated that enhanced air connectivity through the ALGs would contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of border areas while strengthening the overall security architecture of the region.
The meeting focused on issues related to aviation infrastructure, strategic preparedness and measures to improve connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh’s frontier districts.
