70 Scouts and Guides Attend National-Level Workshop in Meghalaya

A national-level integrated workshop on ‘Mission LiFE’ (Lifestyle for Environment) and self-defence, organised by the national headquarters of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, was held in Shillong and concluded on September 6. Hosted by the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides at its state headquarters, the workshop brought together 70 participants from across India. Beginning on September 1, the programme aimed to educate and empower participants on environmental challenges and encourage simple, sustainable actions in their everyday lives. The workshop also focused on self-defence and building greater awareness and confidence among participants. Addressing the valedictory programme, S Syiem, Senior Environment Engineer of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board, emphasised the need to shift the climate change narrative from a government-led, top-down approach towards personal responsibility. He said individuals can play an important role in protecting the environment by adopting practical lifestyle changes and becoming “pro-planet people.” The workshop highlighted the importance of empowering young people and communities to take everyday environmental action while developing skills that contribute to personal safety and resilience.
