Intense protest has erupted at Jantar Mantar in the national capital over widespread irregularities in the country’s education system. The protest, organized by the Cockroach Janata Party and led by founder Abhijit Dipak, has received open support from renowned environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk. Not only extending support, Wangchuk has also issued a serious warning to the government that he will undertake a 42-day hunger strike if Abhijit Dipak or any other protester is arrested by the police.
Notably, this protest has been staged against irregularities in crucial national-level examinations, namely NEET, CUET, CBSE, and SSC. The protesters have raised the demand for the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Delhi Police, however, has granted official permission to the protesters to hold this gathering at Jantar Mantar.
According to environmental activist Wangchuk, he himself will be present at the protest site in Delhi and participate in the programme. Along with this, he urged the authorities not to obstruct this peaceful protest. The Cockroach Janata Party’s movement, built around sensitive issues such as exam controversies, rising unemployment, and reforms in the education sector, has now established itself as one of the largest mass movements of the country’s youth.
