Vi is excited to announce its collaboration with Shemaroo to live-stream the iconic MahaKumbh Mela, one of the world’s largest spiritual events, from 13th January to 26th February 2025. With an expected footfall of over 40 crore pilgrims, the event will be streamed on the Vi Movies & TV App and Vi App, offering users live coverage of key moments such as the Shahi Snans, Akhara processions, and Ganga Aarti. Vi customers will also have access to exclusive content, including interviews with saints, cultural performances, and behind-the-scenes stories.
This initiative highlights Vi’s commitment to leveraging technology to make significant cultural and spiritual events accessible to millions. With the growing demand for local and spiritual content, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, Vi is poised to tap into the rising OTT viewership, which has surged by 60%. The company’s enhanced 4G network, which includes 46,000 new sites and upgraded capacity across 58,000+ sites, will provide seamless streaming across the country.
