
The Department of Physics and the Department of Computer Science, University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) organised a “Robotics Skill Workshop” in collaboration with the Robotics Club, USTM to commemorate National Technology Day 2026 on Monday.
The workshop aimed to inspire young minds to explore the future of robotics, automation, and emerging technologies.
The workshop was designed to provide students with practical exposure and hands-on training in emerging technologies, including Basics of CAD, Small CAD Design Training, 3D Design Printing, Introduction to Explorer Kits, Hands-on Robot Building, and a special session on “Lab to Market: Bridging Innovation and Entrepreneurship.”
Students from several institutions in Assam and the Northeast participated in the workshop.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr Hari Prasad Jaishi, Head, Department of Physics, USTM.
The event was graced by Prof. G.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, USTM, who addressed the gathering and motivated students to explore emerging technologies and cultivate innovative thinking for societal and national development.
Prof. Amit Choudhury, Dean, School of Technology and Management and Director, Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship, USTM, also addressed the participants.
The technical sessions were conducted by the trainers of the Robotics Club, USTM. Participants received hands-on training in CAD design, 3D printing and robot building, and witnessed live demonstrations of soccer and war bots, generating significant enthusiasm among the students.
A dedicated session on “Lab to Market: Bridging Innovation and Entrepreneurship” focused on transforming innovative ideas into practical solutions and sustainable entrepreneurial ventures.
The workshop raised awareness about the growing relevance of robotics, automation, IoT and design technologies in modern industries and research.
