Two leaders of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Shillong Mihngi Circle were summoned to appear before the Sadar Police Station on September 3, 2026, in connection with their protest against an allegedly illegally constructed temple at the CBI office premises in Mawkasiang.
The two KSU leaders are Samuel Kharbani, Secretary of the KSU Shillong Mihngi Circle, and Salestine Ranghang, Assistant General Secretary of the KSU Shillong Mihngi Circle and President of the KSU Mawkasiang Unit.
However, upon appearing before the police, the two leaders were reportedly arrested by the police in connection with the disturbance that took place on August 19, 2026.
