Truecaller has expanded its digital safety portfolio with the launch of Truecaller Scam Checker on Android in India and on its website globally, combining scam detection capabilities with community-generated intelligence to help users assess potentially fraudulent communications.
The new platform allows users to check suspicious web links for possible malicious or phishing activity, look up phone numbers using Truecaller’s detection systems and community signals, and search Scamfeed reports for similar scams reported by other users. It also enables users to describe a suspected fraud attempt in their own words and receive relevant results, including checks of links or numbers contained in the query.
Truecaller said the service brings together three key elements commonly associated with suspicious messages — a phone number, a link and the accompanying narrative — allowing users to investigate them through a single destination.
The launch reflects the growing need for accessible verification tools as consumers increasingly encounter scams across digital communication channels. Truecaller said Scam Checker is backed by scam intelligence from its community of 500 million users.
“People often sense that something is wrong, but they need a quick way to check before responding,” said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller.
