Tata Starbucks enters Meghalaya with Shillong launch, expands Northeast market play

Tata Starbucks is expanding its presence in Northeast India with the opening of its first Meghalaya outlet in Shillong’s Police Bazar on September 19. The store, which will operate from 8 am to 11 pm, adds Meghalaya to the company’s growing India network of 519 stores across 80 cities.

The Shillong outlet has been designed with elements reflecting the city’s character, including natural materials, warm timber, woven detailing, earthy tones, patterned textiles, deep green tiles and greenery. The layout includes a central lounge and intimate seating areas aimed at creating a space for customers to meet and spend time.

On the product side, the store will offer signature beverages such as Java Chip Frappuccino and Zesty Orange Cold Brew, alongside Strawberry Açaí and Mango Dragonfruit Refreshers. Protein Cold Foam options and zero-sugar Vanilla, Hazelnut and Caramel flavours will provide additional customisation. The food range includes Mushroom Melt Sandwich, Tofu & Spinach Croissant Sandwich, Bhuna Chicken Puff, Double Chocolate Chip Cookie and Banana Chocolate Loaf Cake.

Tata Starbucks COO Adrit Mishra said the company is looking forward to creating a “Third Place” in Shillong where customers can connect beyond home and work.

In Shillong, the Police Bazar launch places the brand in a high-traffic commercial and tourism hub, potentially widening the organised premium café segment and adding competition for existing cafés and food-service businesses.

Tata Starbucks operates through Tata Starbucks Private Limited, a 50:50 joint venture with Tata Consumer Products, and has more than 4,305 partners across its India operations.
