TATA Starbucks has expanded its presence in Northeast India with the opening of its first store in Meghalaya, located at the iconic Police Bazar in Shillong. Announced on September 16, 2026, the launch marks the coffee chain’s entry into the state and is part of its wider India expansion. This is their 5th outlet in the north east India.
The Shillong outlet has been designed to reflect the city’s distinctive character, with natural materials, timber, woven detailing, earthy tones, patterned textiles, deep green tiles and greenery. A central lounge, intimate seating areas and local-inspired artwork are intended to create a space for customers to connect beyond home and work.
Adrit Mishra, Chief Operating Officer, TATA Starbucks, said the company was delighted to bring the Starbucks experience to Shillong, adding that coffee remains at the heart of its offering, supported by trained baristas and a focus on quality beans.
In Shillong, the store’s location in Police Bazar places it in a key commercial and high-footfall area, potentially giving the brand access to local consumers as well as tourists and visitors. The outlet will offer beverages including Java Chip Frappuccino, Zesty Orange Cold Brew, Strawberry Açaí and Mango Dragonfruit Refreshers, along with food items and customisable options.
The store will open to customers from September 19, 2026, from 8 am to 11 pm.
