Shillong Marks Foundation Days of Bihar, Rajasthan and Odisha at Lok Bhavan

The Lok Bhavan in Shillong recently hosted a special programme commemorating the foundation days of Bihar, Rajasthan, and Odisha, attended by esteemed citizens and guests. The celebration featured cultural performances, including traditional dances from each of the three states. Meghalaya Governor C. H.

Vijayashankar addressed the gathering, conveying his greetings to the people of these states and emphasizing their rich historical, cultural, and religious heritages. He applauded the artists for their passionate performances, which showcased not only their individual dedication but also the cultural identities of their states. The Governor took this occasion to reflect on the substantial contributions of Bihar, Odisha, and Rajasthan to the nation. He praised Bihar as a renowned center of learning, highlighting historical institutions such as Nalanda University. In discussing Odisha, he acknowledged its spiritual importance and architectural marvels like the Jagannath Temple and Konark Sun Temple, alongside its lively festivals. Regarding Rajasthan, the Governor noted its reputation for valor, striking forts and palaces, and vibrant cultural traditions.

Drawing attention to the diversity of India as its greatest strength, the Governor remarked that, despite variations in language and culture, the country remains united. He referenced the vision of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, advocating for stronger inter-state bonds through mutual appreciation of traditions. Concluding his address, he expressed confidence that the three states would continue to play a vital role in the nation’s progress and extended his best wishes to their citizens during this significant occasion.
