A 17-year-old girl climbed a 100-foot-high mobile tower demanding the release of her boyfriend from jail. The teenager also threatened to jump from the top of the tower if her demand was not met.
The dramatic incident took place on Tuesday in the Gomia area of Jharkhand’s Bokaro district. Tension gripped the area after the girl climbed a mobile tower in Dhendhe village and began her protest.
According to reports, the girl’s 22-year-old boyfriend was arrested by police a few days ago. He was taken into custody after the girl’s mother filed a complaint, following which a kidnapping case was registered. The court later sent him to judicial custody.
On June 18, the girl’s mother had filed a complaint with the police. Based on that complaint, an investigation was launched and the couple was traced to the Sukhdev Nagar area of Ranchi. Police then rescued the girl and arrested the youth.
The young man is currently lodged in Tenughat jail. The girl climbed the tower and staged the protest demanding her boyfriend’s release.
Police and local administration officials reached the spot and tried to bring the girl down safely.
