PNB MetLife expands Shillong presence to tap growing insurance market

PNB MetLife India Insurance Company Limited has expanded its distribution network in the Northeast with the inauguration of a new branch in Shillong, signalling continued investment in India’s growing life insurance market. The move increases the insurer’s nationwide network to 185 offices and is aimed at improving access to policy services, financial advice and insurance solutions for customers in Meghalaya.

The expansion comes as life insurers continue to strengthen their physical presence alongside digital channels to improve customer reach and deepen insurance penetration in emerging markets. PNB MetLife said the new branch reflects its commitment to making insurance more accessible while providing trusted financial guidance closer to customers.

Commenting on the development, Sameer Bansal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PNB MetLife, said trust has always been the foundation of the company’s relationship with customers. He added that the expanding branch network enables the insurer to bring protection closer to customers, simplify insurance services and help them plan their financial future with greater confidence. Besides its branch network, the company serves customers through more than 20,000 bancassurance partner locations across India, strengthening access to its protection and savings products.

In Shillong, the new branch is expected to support the city’s evolving financial services ecosystem by improving access to life insurance products for households, professionals and small businesses. As Meghalaya’s capital witnesses rising economic activity and increasing awareness of financial planning, the expansion could contribute to higher insurance penetration while intensifying competition among insurers seeking growth opportunities in the state’s underserved life insurance market.
