PhonePe Reshuffles Technology Leadership as Srijon Biswas Takes Charge as CTO

Fintech major PhonePe has appointed Srijon Biswas as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective immediately, as the company strengthens its technology leadership to support its next phase of growth.

Biswas, who has been associated with PhonePe for nearly a decade, previously served as the Head of Engineering and will now lead the company’s entire engineering organisation. He will continue to report to PhonePe co-founder Rahul Chari.

As part of a broader leadership restructuring, Rahul Chari, who previously held the position of CTO, has been elevated to Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO) while continuing as a co-founder of the company. His expanded role will cover technology, product, trust and safety, data sciences and analytics, customer experience, artificial intelligence and other strategic initiatives across the PhonePe Group.

Chari said strengthening technology leadership is an important step as PhonePe continues to expand its operations. He added that Biswas’ appointment will help the company maintain its focus on engineering excellence and build technology platforms for the future of digital India.

Founded in 2016, PhonePe has grown into one of India’s leading digital payments platforms, with more than 700 million registered users. The company continues to invest in technology, innovation and customer-focused solutions as digital adoption increases across the country.
