Oppo has finally launched its much awaited Reno16 and Reno16 Pro smartphones in China, setting new standards for mid-range mobile photography. Both models share the same headline feature, a triple rear camera powerhouse setup. The system is headed by a big 200MP primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with up to 3.5x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. Both devices pack a high-res 50MP front-facing shooter that can shoot crisp 4K videos at 60 frames per second, so selfie fans will be happy.
Both have the same elite camera array, but differ in physical size and processing muscle. The vanilla Reno16 features a small 6.32-inch 1.5K OLED display and is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super chipset. Meanwhile, the premium Reno16 Pro steps up to a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED screen, with a blazing-fast MediaTek Dimensity 9500s processor that gets close to flagship-level performance. Both displays have a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and can achieve a stunning peak brightness of up to 3,600 nits.
Another big selling point is endurance in the new lineup. The Reno 16 is powered by a 6,700 mAh battery and supports 80W wired fast charging. The Reno16 Pro takes it up a notch with a colossal 7,000mAh battery tucked into its slim 7.86mm frame, supported by 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. The handsets are powered by ColorOS 16 based on Android 16, and boast IP69K dust and water resistance ratings, in-display fingerprint scanners and up to 16GB of RAM. The Pro model also upgrades to Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, while the standard model is stuck with Wi-Fi 6.
