
Nitin Gadkari arrived in Shillong on Monday to participate in the North East Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition, underscoring the government’s focus on strengthening connectivity and infrastructure in the region. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, who expressed his appreciation for the Union Minister’s visit through a social media message.
Gadkari is scheduled to take part in the CEOs Round Table at the North East India Infrastructure (NEIINFRA) Summit and Exhibition, being held at the Lariti Performing Arts Centre. The summit brings together policymakers, industry leaders, investors and stakeholders to discuss infrastructure development, investment opportunities and strategies for accelerating regional growth across the North East.
Later in the day, the Union Minister will preside over the dedication to the nation and the foundation stone laying ceremony of several National Highway projects at Polo Ground in Shillong.
According to officials, the upcoming highway projects are expected to significantly enhance road connectivity, improve the movement of goods and people, and provide better access to remote areas. The initiatives are also aimed at boosting socio-economic development across Meghalaya and the broader North Eastern Region. The visit highlights the Centre’s continued push to expand infrastructure investment and improve logistical networks in strategically important and geographically challenging regions of the country.
