Meghalaya registered vehicles vandalised in Khanapara

Tensions along the Meghalaya-Assam border are rising after a Meghalaya-registered tourist vehicle was allegedly vandalised at Khanapara on Thursday morning.

The Khanapara incident comes a day after violence during the KSU rally in Shillong, where masked KSU individuals allegedly attacked public and private vehicles, including Assam-registered tourist vehicles.

The incident has raised concerns over possible retaliatory violence between Meghalaya and Assam.

A viral voice note circulating on social media has allegedly threatened attacks on Meghalaya-registered vehicles entering Assam, although its authenticity has not been independently verified.

The alleged Khanapara vehicle vandalism, following the Shillong violence, has heightened concerns over further tensions and escalation along the Meghalaya-Assam border.
