In an effort to promote road safety in the district prior to Meghalaya Day and Republic Day 2025, Ri-Bhoi police officers are giving away free helmets. The elderly, women, and children are the campaign’s primary goals. With a focus on young recipients, Ri-Bhoi police officers said, “If even one life is saved due to these helmets, we will get the ultimate job satisfaction.” “Since they will force the entire family to wear helmets if they realize how important they are, children are our specific targets. They are true force multipliers, these adorable children.”
The police department has put in place 24-hour checkpoints to make sure that the laws requiring two-wheelers to wear double helmets and light motor vehicles to utilize seat belts are being followed. The Meghalaya chief minister emphasized the state’s dedication to road safety by showcasing these initiatives on social media. With its emphasis on behavior modification among younger generations, this project represents a major advancement in the region’s traffic safety measures.
