Meghalaya Police arrest Indore flat owner for sheltering honeymoon murder accused Sonam

In a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the honeymoon murder case of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, the Meghalaya Police on Monday arrested Lokendra Singh Tomar, the owner of the Indore flat where prime accused Sonam Raghuvanshi stayed after fleeing the crime scene.

Tomar, a resident of Gwalior, was taken into custody by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for allegedly sheltering Sonam and concealing crucial evidence. His arrest marks the eighth in the case, which has captured nationwide attention due to its shocking plot and chilling execution.

Confirming the arrest, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police V. Syiem said Tomar played a role in helping Sonam evade arrest, while also interfering with evidence recovery. Other arrests so far include Sonam, her alleged boyfriend Raj Kushwaha, three contract killers, and three others accused of assisting the accused after the murder.

The case stems from the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was allegedly killed by contract killers hired by his wife Sonam, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. The couple had married in Indore on May 11 and arrived in Sohra (Cherrapunji) on May 20. Both went missing on May 23, and Raja’s decomposed body was recovered from a gorge on June 2.

According to the investigation, Sonam meticulously plotted the murder with Raj Kushwaha, with whom she was reportedly in a relationship before and after her marriage to Raja. After the killing, Sonam undertook a dramatic escape, moving across Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, before reaching Indore, where she found shelter in Tomar’s flat.

She surrendered on June 8 in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, but not before evading multiple police teams across states. Earlier, police had also arrested a property dealer and a security guard in Indore for helping Sonam find accommodation and avoid police detection.
