Medanta, one of the largest multi-specialty tertiary and quaternary healthcare providers operating across North and East India, has organised a Women’s Health Talk in Guwahati in association with Aparupa, a not-for-profit women’s empowerment organisation, to promote preventive care, early diagnosis and informed healthcare decisions.
The session was launched by renowned writer, filmmaker and social activist RunaLaila, founder of Aparupa. DrAmita Jain, Associate Director, Urogynaecology at MedantaGurugram, highlighted the importance of routine screenings, recognising persistent symptoms and encouraging women to participate actively in treatment decisions.
DrMalabikaBhagawati, Senior Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecology at MedantaMediclinic Guwahati, and DrAnanyaDeori, Associate Consultant, Breast Services at MedantaGurugram, were also present. Discussions covered symptom tracking, medical history documentation, nutrition, physical activity, sleep and stress management.
In Shillong, the initiative highlights the potential for healthcare providers to strengthen preventive health awareness and community engagement in Meghalaya. Greater awareness of screening and specialist consultations could support demand for accessible women’s healthcare services, although the programme’s direct impact on Shillong remains unquantified.
Medanta said patients can consult DrBhagawati at its Dispur clinic, while its North East helpline, 8904395588, offers appointment assistance from 8 am to 8 pm in Assamese, Bengali, Nagamese, English and Hindi. Founded by DrNareshTrehan, Medanta operates six hospitals and has five upcoming projects, including one in Guwahati.
