Himalaya Wellness Company has set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title after 66,928 doctors and healthcare practitioners across India participated in its month-long sustainability initiative launched on Doctors’ Day, July 1. The participation exceeded the previous benchmark of 53,201.
The record, under “The Largest Online Photo Album of People Holding a Sign”, saw healthcare professionals submit photographs displaying the message “United for Wellness, United for a Greener Tomorrow”. Each entry was reviewed and verified under GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ guidelines before the final count was confirmed.
For Himalaya, the initiative also reinforces its broader sustainability positioning and long-term stakeholder engagement strategy. CFO and COO Jayashree Ullal said the achievement reflects the company’s “Care for Life” philosophy, covering people, the planet and partnerships built over 97 years. Business Director–Healthcare Vikas Bansi described the campaign as an effort to unite India’s medical community around a healthier and more sustainable future.
Director–BabyCare Chakravarthi N.V. credited participating doctors and Himalaya’s field force for delivering the milestone.
The company is targeting plantation of at least five million trees by 2030 and has already planted more than two million trees across ecologically significant regions. It also works with NGOs, communities and farming partners on biodiversity conservation, sustainable herb cultivation, vermicomposting and beekeeping.
The initiative comes as climate change increasingly influences public health, with the WHO estimating 3.6 billion people live in areas highly vulnerable to climate change.
