In a major push to overhaul rural medical infrastructure, the Health Department of West Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya has launched a comprehensive roadmap to strengthen primary healthcare delivery. On Tuesday, top health officials convened a high-level District-Level Re-Orientation Programme aimed at bridging existing operational gaps and elevating healthcare outcomes across the region.
The intensive session brought together Medical Officers and Mid-Level Health Providers stationed at various Health and Wellness Centres. The primary focus of the initiative centers on enhancing the implementation of the Comprehensive Primary Health Care framework through robust collaboration, continuous capacity building, and localized strategies.
During the review, participants meticulously evaluated key performance indicators and digital portal reporting mechanisms. This allowed health workers to candidly assess grassroots challenges and formulate direct strategies to improve service delivery for rural communities. Furthermore, District Nodal Officers representing all twelve essential primary health packages presented a unified District Implementation Plan. This blueprint outlines specific measures to expand access to high-quality medical services and fortify ongoing healthcare interventions.
The event also served to boost morale among frontline workers. The district administration publicly felicitated the best-performing Primary Health Centre and Sub-Centre Health and Wellness Centres for their exceptional achievements in executing primary healthcare initiatives.
Senior officials, including the District Medical and Health Officer and representatives from the State Health Systems Resource Centre, praised the programme as a vital exercise in strategic planning and knowledge sharing. Moving forward, this renewed roadmap is expected to significantly improve healthcare accessibility and efficiency throughout West Jaintia Hills.
