The All India Karate Championship 2026 in Guwahati turned into a proud showcase for Golaghat district, with five students from Kamarbandha Karate Green Academy returning home with medals and recognition.

Competing on May 16 and 17 at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium, the team represented Assam against top talent from across India. Ankurjyoti Tamuli led the medal tally, clinching gold in his category. He is a Class 6 student at Golaghat Government Bezbaruah Higher Secondary School.

Joining him on the podium were four bronze medalists from the same academy:
Gaurav Saikia, a Class 4 student from Golaghat Jatiya Vidyalaya
Antarapriya Saikia, Class 8, Kamarbandha Higher Secondary School
Niharika Rajkhowa, Class 7, Kacharihat Jatiya Vidyalaya
Mugdhajyoti Gogoi, Class 8, Dakshin Hengera Higher Secondary School

Their achievements were celebrated today in Kamarbandha, where local residents and parents organized a felicitation for the academy’s coach, Kumud Bora. The community credited Bora’s training and mentorship for preparing the students to compete at the national level.

The five medals have sparked enthusiasm for karate in the region, with many viewing the results as a sign of growing grassroots talent in Golaghat. For the students, the performance at the All India Championship marks a significant step in their sporting journey and brings wider attention to the district’s emerging martial arts scene.
