With just three days remaining until the General Election to Lok Sabha 2024, Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer of South West Garo Hills, Hema Nayak, took charge on Tuesday evening, orchestrating a final Coordination meeting. The assembly brought together Nodal Officers from various cells, Zonal Magistrates, Zonal Police Officers, Sector Officers, and Police Sector Officers at the DRDA conference hall. The objective: ensuring a seamless and trouble-free polling process. In the meeting chaired by DC & DEO Hema Nayak, comprehensive discussions revolved around material dispatch and movement plans, receiving protocols, 72-hour Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and other crucial election-related matters.

Emphasizing the pivotal role of coordination between Civil and Police Sector officers, Nayak fostered familiarity among attendees and urged Sector Officers to acquaint themselves thoroughly with their respective sectors. Additionally, they were tasked with closely coordinating with Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who possess intricate knowledge of voters within their assigned polling stations. Addressing concerns voiced by Sector Officers, Nayak reassured adherence to Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines, assuring the integrity of the electoral process.

Superintendent of Police for South West Garo Hills, Vikash Kumar, also lent his voice to the meeting, emphasizing the paramount importance of maintaining law and order throughout the election period. He urged Sector Officers to promptly report any issues arising during polling to District Police for immediate intervention. In addition to these critical discussions, the meeting delved into communication strategies, traffic management plans, webcasting initiatives, and other logistical arrangements essential for ensuring a smooth and transparent election process.
