Fresh clash erupts at Karbi Anglong district over land encroachment

Chaotic situation erupts in Assam's Karbi Anglong district over demanding the removal of illegal settlers from Professional and Village Grazing Reserves (PGR and VGR) deviated from their permitted route. As the issue of land encroachment is currently pending in the Highcourt. This is the second incident in recent times, previous clash erupted in the month of February. According to the sources, the violent protest in the region has injured 44 people including 9 police personnel. Another four individuals have been arrested by the police in connection with the clash.

Tata Power Q1 net profit upsurge 4% to Rs 1,188 crore

Tata Power reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,188.63 crore in the first quarter of financial year 2024-25, up four percent from the previous year.The company had earned a net profit of Rs 1,140.97 crore in the same period last year. Sequentially, net profit increased 13 percent from Rs 1,045.59 crore reported in the March quarter.Revenue from operations inflation 13.6 percent to Rs 17,293.62 crore in the quarter, from Rs 15,213.29 crore in the same period last year.According to the average estimate of five brokerage firms, Tata Power was expected to report 14.7 percent year-on-year growth in revenue at Rs 17,457 crore in Q1FY25. On the other hand, net profit in Q1FY24 was required, to be Rs 1,004 crore as against Rs 927.34 crore.

Assam State Government is planning to bring new laws within the territory. On 'lovd jihad' new rule will be imposed soon. He said, "We spoke about ‘love jihad’ during the elections. Soon, we will bring a law which will award life imprisonment in such cases." Further, between Hindus and Muslim land transaction, consent of Assam Chief Minister will be mandatory before going ahead, the CM said.

DU 2024: Delhi University has released the academic calendar for first year undergraduate students for the 2024-2025 academic session. Semester 1 classes will begin on Thursday, August 29. Sun Pharma Q1 results: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries on Thursday reported 40.2% year-on-year (YoY) consolidated net profit growth at ₹2,835.62 crore for the first quarter of FY25.
