Authorities in East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, have identified three of the four victims found brutally murdered in Umpleng. The latest identification confirms that one of the deceased is Rajesh Rai, a 26-year-old from Dharan Sunsari, Koshi Anchal, Nepal. Earlier identifications included Ravi Rai, 23, from Elam, Mechipradesh, Nepal, and Nasar Kyndait, 33, from Dkhiah East in East Jaintia Hills. However, the identity of the fourth victim remains undisclosed at this time. The shocking discovery unfolded on July 6th when laborers stumbled upon the bodies in a secluded area behind Umpleng market. All four men were discovered with their hands bound and bore severe injuries indicative of a brutal assault. Tragically, one victim's injuries were so severe that his head was nearly severed.

The 16th edition of the India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT commenced today at the Foreign Training Node, Umroi (Meghalaya). Scheduled from 03rd to 16th July 2024, the exercise brings together a contingent of 45 personnel from the Indian Army's SIKKIM SCOUTS battalion, alongside members from various other arms and services.
