Meghalaya launches initiative to revolutanise Early Childhood Care and Education

In what may be termed as a landmark initiative aimed at revolutionizing Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), the Meghalaya Early Childhood Development (ECD) Mission has launched an integrated ECD package. BJP alleges JJM anomalies in Meghalaya, demands CBI probe

The BJP has called on the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to look into claims of anomalies in the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme implementation in Meghalaya. BJP leader Bernard Marak claimed the state government submitted false reports to the Centre on the progress of the scheme. According to him, the official claims that most villages in Meghalaya now have access to water are misleading. The state claims that most villages have water, but our findings revealed there are no tanks, no intact points, and no distribution systems,” Marak said. He said contrary to the official reports, 90 per cent of the villages out of a surveyed 100 are not receiving water. He demanded an independent inquiry, stating, “It is the state’s duty to address these issues.

Locals clash with police opposing RKM School in Meghalaya’s village, 12 injured

At least 12 people were injured after a violent clash between a mob and police at Mawkynrew Village falling under East Khasi Hills on Monday. Curfew was imposed at Mawkynrew (about 37 kms from Shillong) after the clash as locals opposed to building construction of the Ramakrishna Mission School over a contentious allotment of land. The matter which is currently sub judice, took a violent turn when a section of villagers approached the construction site seeking to reclaim the land which was earlier allotted for sports activity. The RKM School which has been in existence since 2022 is the only school in the area. It has 168 students from Class 1 to Class 5 most of whom are ferried in the Mission bus.

East Khasi Hills DM promulgates curfew in Mawkynrew Village

The District Magistrate (DM) of East Khasi Hills (EKH) district on Monday promulgated curfew at Mawkynrew Village under Madanrting Police Station with immediate effect, following reports of vandalism and destruction of property and person at Ramakrishna Mission School, Mawkynrew. In an order under Section 123 BNSS, EKH DM, Rosetta Mary Kurbah stated that, "These activities are likely  to continue with every likelihood of causing serious breach of peace and tranquility and may lead to loss of life and property." The order further stated that there is a serious deterioration of law and order in areas under Mawkynrew Village and the curfew will remain in place till further orders.
