The 7th Edition of the Meghalaya Model United Nations (MMUN) Conference 2026 commenced on September 4 at Shillong College, bringing together young delegates for a three-day session focused on debate, diplomacy, and discussions surrounding pressing global issues.
Organized in collaboration with Shillong College, the three-day event received support from the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, and district Deputy Commissioners.
The conference was held under the theme “Renovar • Renasci • Renascentia”. Throughout the conference, participating youth engaged in deliberations across various United Nations and specialized committees.
The sessions were designed to help delegates hone their leadership skills while analyzing potential solutions to contemporary social and international challenges. The conference officially kicked off with an opening ceremony at 10:00 AM on September 4. The inaugural program featured addresses from guest speakers, the formal introduction of the Executive Boards, a cultural performance, and the official declaration opening the conference.
Organizers noted that MMUN 2026 was organized to serve as a vital platform for youth dialogue, critical thinking, and leadership development, aimed at fostering a culture of informed discussion and global awareness among the youth.
The event concluded its proceedings in Shillong on September 6.
