Hundreds of residents from Lapangap village, accompanied by members of various organisations from West Jaintia Hills, marched to the Additional Secretariat on Wednesday demanding that the government address their concerns.
Following the protest, the government agreed to hold discussions with the demonstrators. Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar invited 11 representatives of the protestors for talks to listen to their demands.
The protest drew large participation from residents and pressure groups, highlighting growing tensions over issues concerning Lapangap village.
