The inaugural All Shillong Interschool Swimming Championship 2025 kicked off on October 24 at the True North Fitness Centre and Swimming Academy’s indoor heated pool in Lapalang, drawing 155 participants from 25 schools across the city. The two-day event aims to promote youth sports and showcase emerging swimming talent in Meghalaya.

Over 26 events ranging from the 50m backstroke to the 200m individual medley, students competed across five age categories: 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17, and 18-20 years. Preliminary heats took place in the morning, followed by finals in the afternoon. Parents, teachers, and friends cheered on the swimmers, creating a lively atmosphere of camaraderie and sportsmanship.

The championship was inaugurated by Keith Syiemlieh, senior-most member of the True North Centre.
