In a chilling twist to what began as a romantic honeymoon trip, the Meghalaya Police have uncovered a cold-blooded murder plot where the wife allegedly orchestrated the killing of her husband by hiring contract killers. Sonam Raghuvanshi, a resident of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, is accused of plotting and executing the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their visit to Meghalaya. According to Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP) Idashisha Nongrang, the police acted on a tip-off and successfully apprehended three suspects in connection with the crime — one from Uttar Pradesh and two others from Indore.
“The investigation team arrested the accused early this morning. During interrogation, they confessed that the murder was planned in advance and was carried out at the behest of the victim’s wife,” said DGP Nongrang at a press briefing. The murder took place near the picturesque Wei Sawdong waterfalls, a popular tourist spot in Meghalaya, turning the serene landscape into the site of a gruesome crime. According to sources, the killers were allegedly instructed to make the murder appear like an accident during the couple’s sightseeing trip. The motive behind the murder is still under investigation, but police sources suggest possible financial and personal disputes. The DGP confirmed that the suspects have named additional individuals involved in the plot, and further arrests may follow.
After going missing for over two weeks following the incident, Sonam Raghuvanshi turned herself in to the authorities, triggering a wave of public shock. Her sudden surrender came amid mounting pressure and growing media attention. Meanwhile, a fourth accused, believed to be a key player in the murder conspiracy, remains at large. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the fugitive, with police teams deployed across multiple states.
