Vi (Vodafone Idea) unveiled Vi Protect at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 — a comprehensive AI-powered initiative aimed at safeguarding customers and enterprises from spam, scams, and cyberattacks. The launch reflects Vi’s commitment to creating a secure digital environment as India’s reliance on online services grows. Vi Protect introduces an AI-based Voice Spam Detection system, which flags fraudulent calls in real time, displaying “Suspected Spam” alerts on users’ screens. Complementing this is an AI-driven Cyber Defense and Incident Response System for Vi’s core network, capable of detecting and neutralizing cyber threats in under an hour with nearly 70% higher accuracy.
The initiative also strengthens existing protections, including SMS spam filtering, International Calling Display, and AI-powered threat analysis, which have collectively blocked over 600 million spam calls and messages. Vi plans to roll out real-time URL protection soon, preventing phishing and malware attacks, ensuring both personal and enterprise users are safeguarded.
Analysts note that Vi Protect is likely to enhance trust in digital services across Meghalaya, helping residents navigate the online world safely while encouraging broader economic participation. Vi CTO Jagbir Singh said, “Vi Protect demonstrates our commitment to a safe and trusted digital environment as India’s digital adoption expands.”
