Throwback: Virat Kohli recalls of an incident from India’s tour to Australia in 2012

Virat Kohli the most celebrated Indian Cricketer of India known for his extraordinary talent in the grounds. However, Virat recalling a incident from India’s tour to Australia in 2012 which is typed as ‘Virat’s middle finger incident’.

During the test match, while fielding Virat was repeatedly targeted by verbal abuse from a section of Australian fans. To which Virat responded by raising his middle finger to the crowd.

Virat recalled saying, “Yeah, the one thing I remember most is when I’d had enough of the Australian crowd at Sydney and I just decided to flick a finger at them. ‘I’m so cool’. The match referee called me to his room the next day and I’m like, ‘What’s wrong?’. He said, ‘What happened at the boundary yesterday?’. I said, ‘Nothing, it was a bit of banter’.”

“I got away with that one. He was a nice guy, he understood I was young and these things happen.” Due to the incident, Virat also had to pay fine which was deduction of 50 per cent from the match fees.
