Three Meghalaya players selected for North East Squad in Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy

Three women players from the state have been named in the North East Zone team for the upcoming BCCI Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2025–26. The tournament, which will be held in Nagaland from November 4 to 14, will feature top players from across India’s six zones.

The three players — Debasmita Dutta, Riticia Nongbet, and Solina Jaba — have made the final 15-member North East Zone squad. Adding to Meghalaya’s pride, Debasmita Dutta has been appointed the captain of the team, while Baiahunlang Mylliemngap, also from Meghalaya, will serve as the team manager.

This strong representation marks a major milestone for Meghalaya’s women’s cricket, reflecting the steady progress the state has made in recent years under the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA).

The final squad was announced following a selection committee meeting held in Guwahati, chaired by Nababrata Bhattacharjee, President of the MCA. The selectors closely reviewed performances of players from all North Eastern states based on recent and ongoing BCCI senior women’s tournaments before finalizing the names.

The North East Zone squad includes talented players from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Sikkim — bringing together some of the region’s most promising cricketers. The full squad is as follows:
Nabam Abhi, Nabam Yapu (Arunachal Pradesh); Kiran Bala Haorungbam, Ranjita Koijam (Manipur); Lalrinfeli Pautu (Mizoram); Riticia Nongbet, Debasmita Dutta, Solina Jaba (Meghalaya); Najmeen Khatun, Vipeni (Nagaland); and Nandika Kumari, Pranita Chettri, Primula Chettri, Priyanka Kurmi, and Samayita Pradhan (Sikkim).

Officials from the Meghalaya Cricket Association expressed happiness over the selection, calling it a “testament to the growing strength and depth of women’s cricket in Meghalaya.” They added that the state has been steadily improving its cricket infrastructure and coaching facilities over the past few years, which has helped nurture young talent and produce competitive players.
