Meghalaya CM introduces an OTS scheme for MeECL customers
The One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme, 2025, which provides financial relief to Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) customers, was introduced by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal was present when the project was announced, and its goal is to lessen the burden of overdue electricity bills. Nearly 45,000 consumers would profit from the program, the chief minister announced at its launch, and more than Rs. 26 crore in levies and penalties will be eliminated.
OTS Scheme 2025 applies to "Domestic Low Tension (DLT)" and "Kutir Jyoti/BPL" customers with a declared load of 5 KW or less, as well as to customers who have been disconnected for failing to pay long-overdue electricity bills. From March 1st, 2025, to March 31st, 2025, the One Time Set...
