Assam Congress MP appeals to the state government to rename the Silchar railway station
Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has appealed to the state government to rename the Silchar Railway Station in honor of the eleven language martyrs, or Bhasha Sahids, of Silchar. According to the Jorhat MP, who also serves as the Congress Party's deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, this action will honor their significant contribution to the 1961 Language Movement in Barak Valley. Gogoi stressed the significance of this renaming exercise in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that it will suitably honor the heroes' legacy.
